- adamrezich 4y agothis was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative read. I'm just old enough to have been around for the 90s Amway stuff and although I'd heard a bit about it I was never exposed to it directly. the author does a great job here of laying out his perspective on things and the Amway : Christianity = web3 : crypto analogy is an interesting one.
- siliconpotato 4y agoThe individualistic capitalist greed at the core of Amway is really the underlying fundamental though, and quite far from the message of Christianity- they abused some cherry-picked scriptures to try to align themselves with a cultural psyche. I wonder what methods they use in India?
- adamrezich 4y agothat's what I meant, that Amway hijacked Christianity, in the same way that web3 hijacked "crypto" (cryptocurrency and by extension cryptography).
- robotburrito 4y agoMLM stuff is a flat out cult. I've had friends that seemingly over night turned into people who once talked to me about their families, lives, hopes and dreams into people who could only talk to me about protein powders they were trying to sell me.
- fatjokes 4y agoSo you're saying you agree?
- cuteboy19 4y agoRecently, the Indian government took action against Amway and consequently Indian YouTube is filled with Amway apologists (most likely distributors at the bottom of the pyramid).
- cuteboy19 4y agoPoints they use, any similarities with crypto are just coincidence of course 1. Financial Freedom! 2. You just don't know what you are talking about 3. Mainstream media is lying to you, they're all paid off 4. They donated to some good causes, how can they be a scam
