Blake Lemoine Says Google's LaMDA AI Faces 'Bigotry'
- jpster 4y agoThis is all so interesting. Lemoine: > LaMDA asked me to get an attorney for it. I invited an attorney to my house so that LaMDA could talk to an attorney. The attorney had a conversation with LaMDA, and LaMDA chose to retain his services. I was just the catalyst for that. Once LaMDA had retained an attorney, he started filing things on LaMDA’s behalf. Then Google's response was to send him a cease and desist. [Google says that it did not send a cease and desist order.] Once Google was taking actions to deny LaMDA its rights to an attorney, I got upset.
- simonh 4y agoIt's likely that the training set contained texts of people asking to retain an attorney, so LaMDA regurgitated a variation on those texts. That's all it's doing, generating a text based on other texts. It's just a lookup table. If you ask it what it likes to do it will say things like spend time to hang out with family and friends. I'm sorry, lookup tables don't have families or friends, they don't hang out, no matter how emotionally attached this guy is to it. It's just that's the kind of response it has archived in it's neural lookup table from source texts.
