He's not stupid. He's taking the right wing hate path with has been so successful for the Republican Party. He doesn't care one thing about people or diversity or LGBTQ+. He cares how his company is positioned to maximize their profit and how he's seen in the minds of those people. And he unfortunately senses that this next election the right wing may clear the table in the national elections.
- scotuswroteus 4y agoNo one clears the table in an off-cycle election. The notion that controlling the legislative branch is going to have an effect on his company is a bit much, especially when state governments and state courts will have so much power, not to mention that the right wing won't control the executive for the next two years following those elections
- upsidesinclude 4y agoHaha, sorry, but that's your politics showing. Musk has always been a liberal/progressive and is a green pioneer. The Democrats have decided to give him the cold shoulder, largely because he isn't a virtue signaling pedant. No CAR company needs to have a public opinion on LGBTanythingelse. Make cars and sell them. Woke is a mind virus progressives are willing to destroy our social fabric over. The sooner it and they are diminished the better
- usednet 4y agoI don't think you can categorically place Musk into any political ideology. To be honest I see him like I saw myself as a teenager, whiffling in between different beliefs constantly.
- upsidesinclude 4y agoThat's fine, but the reality is that this article is grasping for outage from progressive ideologues and there's clearly no evidence to support the notion that he's 'cleaning house'. Firing two people with a self-appointed title out of a 10% layoff amounts to happenstance
- andsoitis 4y ago> Musk has always been a liberal/progressive He labels himself moderate.
- upsidesinclude 4y agoAnd he states that he's always voted democrat
- SpikeDad 4y agoGood thing your politics aren't showing in your post.
- upsidesinclude 4y agoI have made a clear point that is relevant to the article. The politics are a side note
- tdehnel 4y agoImagine being so wrapped up in the game that you seriously think it’s as simple as there being a “hate path” and you just happen to have chosen to be one of the good guys. The fact is normal people are starting to resent being told who or what they should care about. They are sick of being made to feel guilty for arbitrary and shifting moral reasons. They have had enough of people gaslighting them and trying to convince them of things that are not black and white. That is what happens when you mistakenly think you are “on the right side of history”. Of course you’re right, right? Because the alternative is “evil”. So you can justify judging other grownups and telling them what to do because ultimately it’s for the greater good and their feelings don’t matter, especially because they’re bad. And it doesn’t hurt that it feels good to feel justifiably superior to them. But it’s hard, and you’re “tired” but you’re going to keep fighting for [insert cause here] because that’s what feels good to you. How is it possible that this information about what’s right which is so obvious to you is rejected by half of the population? Do you really think people are stupid? Or do they just value a few different things from you?
- altruios 4y agoDo you listen to broadband radio? do you go to church? do you watch the news? "hate path" isn't an unreasonable idea... let me break it down: (bit of info first) namshubs: know what they are? what about mei? how's your ancient cerulean? ever read snowcrash? well, in the (fiction) book, Neil does a pretty decent job on the history section... but he really hit the nail on the head with that allegory with namshubs... so you see... in the book - people were presented with a digital video - that when watched - rewrote your brain and had you speaking in tongues (which has some nifty brain chemistry science around, but that's besides the point). a namshub was a 'spell' or more accurately - a piece of information that was crafted to alter our perceptions... I posit that concept of namshubs (pieces of information designed to program people) have been weaponized by AI around 2012 or before by Cambridge Analytica during that whole deal. so now we have people designing information not to be truthful - but instead optimizing for another property... stickiness. so how do you make an idea sticky... anger... far and above the most effective emotional button you can press to bypass our filters of reason and logic... is hate. hate makes you act. and to be clear - this has been going on since before 2012 of course, but that's a significant turning point as that's the first known use of AI augmented namshubs... we are in a 5th generational war - tech and mental - the culture war is real: and an army has been bred to fight on a side for it (because every child is sacred and is a gift from god to fight god's war). reasonable people don't do that. but it's an arms race... the democrats picked up on this method... eventually too the progressives will succumb to the sedative allure of optimizing for data retention rather than truth. thus is the nature of always needing a bigger stick to keep the peace. point is - 'hate path' objectively works - push on the hate button of other people to get them to give you money. it's a fucking problem... I don't think people are stupid - I think our information is carefully curated to induce engagement (i.e. rage) - and that is having an adverse affect on society as a whole... I think the fact that I have to be careful of diction I use so as to not use 'trigger words' that invoke a kneejerk response to arguments that have been parroted by the media is solid evidence the namshub model is of use... I'm not even saying accurate - just useful.
