Q: But why the obsession with recognizing it automatically?
A: "500 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute worldwide." https://www.oberlo.com/blog/youtube-statistics https://www.oberlo.com/blog/youtube-statistics A bit of arithmetic gives 30000 days of video uploaded to YouTube per day. Manually reviewing all that content would require an army of people.
- shalmanese 4y agoWhich I take as a given premise at the start. The bulk of the content would be ML reviewed but you could opt out of review entirely and take on the burden of legal responsibility instead of YT.
- fatherzine 4y agoThanks for the clarification, I might have misread your OP. Legal responsibility is an interesting angle, somewhat concerned about its practicality in the land of punitive damage, see e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restaurants https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald%27s_Restau...
