All this smacks of those public access science shows from the late 50s, where they had some lumbering "Michelin man" robot doing the vacuuming and cleaning dishes... And the voice over declaring that every American household will have it's own domestic robot by 1962. If we still find it difficult to copy and paste data into Excel, I can't see how we can blithely state we're already or very nearly at some state of demonstrating AGI.
