I have the Evelyn Wood book. The first technique they teach on speed reading does work well. The other techniques I could not get to work. I was listening to a podcast episode where the guy being interviewed was selling a speed reading course. He said it was all about improving your peripheral vision. I have not seen much on this idea online. But I think there may be something to it.
