Some parts of France are currently as hot as the Sahara
- toomuchtodo 4y agoI had assumed based on climate modeling that parts of Europe would not see such extreme heat but apparently that is not the case :(
- Melting_Harps 4y ago> I had assumed based on climate modeling that parts of Europe would not see such extreme heat but apparently that is not the case :( I was in the Adriatic coast and in Germany last year during the Summer, and last year Germany had one of the gloomiest, wettest/coldest summers. This year during this heat wave at the Sachsenring MotoGP the riders and race teams were saying this is more comparable to Indonesia or Thailand than it is to central Europe. Welcome to modern Climate Change, wherein it's less about a steady increase or decrease in one direction and more like it's wild swings in unpredictable ways with seemingly no consistency at all. I was in S. Germany (the warmest part) in 2012 and it snowed in mid and late October Fall during harvest ahead of Octobefest, which I'm told is something that rarely if ever happens. I knew then that this wasn't about Global Warming, which i never accepted due to the aforementioned inconsistency, but more about the loss of predictable and consistent climate weather patterns: this would be substantiated with 3 more years of my horticulture apprenticeship. It's alarming and should be a much bigger focus than it is, I just hope that with this Russian invasion we accelerate the major dependency on fossil fuels; I don't think it will ever be 100% removed, but it's hard to see how business as usual doesn't exasperate this situation even more.
