Hi,
Congratulations for launching something.
Here is some feedback after a quick visit to the website's home and pricing pages. I'm criticizing some parts, not to discourage you, just to highlight some friction encountered with the marketing message.
The toolset likely has some powerful features, useful to some users. However, the text of the home page does not _show_ clearly what it does, why it is valuable, and who might need it.
The first section (above the fold) currently lists some features. Instead, it should rather tell which problem is solved, and for whom.
Some of the features are not clear to me, and I guess to other people too.
Here is my reaction to some of them:
* "Search more than 1,200 websites using their own search" --> why should I care? website's search engines are often not so good (reddit, stackOverflow...)
* "Create custom popup menus and context menus" --> popup? the annoying windows interrupting my workflow? no thanks!
* "Use the command line with aliases" --> is this a terminal app in addition to browser extension?
And right next to this paragraph listing feature, the video thumbnail shows an actual food recipe. The video's background is the same as the website's background, and it has no border, there is no play icon in the middle of the video. At first sight, I thought this was part of the text from the website (browsing from firefox/linux).
N.B.: I did not play the videos embedded in the website, I recognize that these might address the questions raised about the product.
Good luck, and keep up the good work :)
- mcdv 4y agoThanks for the detailed feedback! This is my first product launch. Therefore, I certainly make mistakes. Indeed, the text on the site is not the best. I will try to improve it soon. I still advise you to watch the video, they show some examples of using my product.
- joe-collins 4y agoI advise you that I will never watch a video. Video is a painfully slow and unwieldy format for transmiting information. It is occasionally useful for specific kinds of instruction or demonstration, but I don't think your service is better served by a video than by searchable text.
- mcdv 4y agoHi Joe! Never is a strong word. Can I ask you to make an exception and still watch the video? They are very short, a minute or two at the most, straight-to-the-point kind of the video. They're hosted on my site, it's not YouTube, there's no audio, there's no talking heads, there's no animation. Just a screen recording to show what it is quickly and clearly. You can imagine it as if I shared my screen with you.
- mcdv 4y agoSearching using the site's own search engine can be very helpful. A few examples. On reddit, you can search within certain communities, not just the entire site. In addition, Google takes some time to index posts. And the internal search looks for all posts. Custom search is also very useful for showing results in the sort you want. For example, you can create a custom Amazon search for products with only 4 stars and above and sorted by price.
- mcdv 4y ago>"Create custom popup menus and context menus" --> popup? the annoying windows interrupting my workflow? no thanks! The popup menu is not annoying, but a useful thing. I also hate things that pop up. But this is different. The popup menu does not appear by itself. You set the rules for which event it will appear or not appear at all. For example, you can make your custom popup menu appear only if you hold down Control and highlight the text. And another when you hold Alt. And nothing when you just select the text. Popup menus are very customizable. The whole point of my extension is to make everything inside the browser window in such a way that it is convenient for you. Moreover, the extension has several types of popup menus that are less intrusive. For example, the Popup menu can be displayed at the very top and at the very bottom of the screen without distracting your attention.
- mcdv 4y ago> * "Use the command line with aliases" --> is this a terminal app in addition to browser extension? No, this is the command line in the extension's main window. It allows you to search multiple sites at once using aliases.
