What our culture does. With the intense thinking and the making of many machines. It's a great way to control our environment but it's also an incredibly narrow approach to being in the world, relatively speaking. A very special speck within a vast smear of possibilities. We're like intellectual insects. All specialized mandibles and cilia for manipulating a special kind of waxy hivebuilding secretion. And that's our universe. But it isn't really the universe. So yeah, it's quite plausible that an alien would not share our fetish for intellection and machinery. No lasers. No robots. Something completely different.
