Then there's this bit toward the end.
> I had recently joined the Alphabet Workers Union, the union of now almost 1,000 workers across all Alphabet companies
Doesn't that seem way more likely to explain the sudden firing?
- flakiness 4y agoIt was after the termination, if I read it correctly.
- notacoward 4y agoNot clear. Author says "recently" but that also applies to the firing. AIUI somebody wouldn't even be eligible to join an Alphabet-employee union while not working at Alphabet.
- iamevn 4y agoI was my understanding that one of the Alphabet Workers Union bigger goals is to improve conditions for TVCs (temps, vendors, contractors) across the company.
- saagarjha 4y agoI don’t think you want the explanation for a termination to be “because they joined a union”.
- notacoward 4y agoOf course you don't. It's blindingly obvious that they'd never say that. Instead they'd make up another excuse, or say nothing ... which they did. The facts fit the theory, which is not the same as proof but that shallow dismissal sure isn't disproof.
