Turf.js – Advanced geospatial analysis for browsers and Node.js
- CSSer 4y agoHeads up, this looks really busted on mobile devices.
- tobilg 4y agoYup, Not usable on an iphone
- wodenokoto 4y agoShame there is no gallery. The docs looks thorough, but it's a gallery that really sells these kinds of tools.
- WorldMaker 4y agoTurf is the "code math" part of GIS. It's a low level API (built as nice tree-shakeable ESM) for dealing with dumb details of GeoJSON data and geometric math like "is this point somewhere in this complex multi-polygon?" It doesn't provide visualization tools for that math. For that people usually use libraries such as Leaflet. About the best you could do in a gallery is photos of webpack-bundle-analyzer after different tree shaking attempts? I know I find that pretty sometimes, but not everyone is a nerd for good performance optimization work.
- gorbypark 4y agoTurf is a great companion to web maps (leaflet, mapbox, libremap, etc) and PostGIS. Sometimes it’s just easier and better to do some calculations on the client side rather than using some complex SQL to do it (and the extra work of having an endpoint to return the data from PostGIS).
