The vast scale of the organized child sex abuse activity among Catholic clergy. I have a hard time understanding how such organized activity can be performed by people who literally fear divine judgement, so I am alarmed by the number of clergy who are evidently atheist.
- tonfreed 4y agoAmong the elite in general. How the hell did they throw the book at Gislaine Maxwell without going after any of her clients as well?
- MockObject 4y agoRight, that's outrageous. But young people presumably enter the clergy driven by a deep commitment to faith. Yet something along the way seems to convince them that God isn't real at all. I wonder what that is.
- jnash 4y agoObviously they don't fear divine judgement. In other words, it is evidence that a large percentage of Catholic clergy simply doesn't believe in God. There are websites out there dedicated to religious clergy who doesn't believe in God but has no choice but to continue spreading BS.
- Viliam1234 4y ago> religious clergy who doesn't believe in God but has no choice In what sense they don't have a choice? Catholic church won't kill you if you quit. First, you can leave the religion entirely, then they have no power over you. Second, you can quit your job while staying in the church (as Pope Benedict did), and I think you probably can quit priesthood... but if even you couldn't, quitting the religion is always the Plan B. So I suspect that the main reason for staying is that getting paid for talking BS is just too convenient. Not believing in God, but preaching to people who believe in God and believe that you are the speaker of the God.
- pqs 4y agoYou are right. They do have a choice.
- WHA8m 4y agoGenerally speaking, I agree with you. But I don't imagine it as straight forward (easy) as you describe it. > quitting the religion is always the Plan B No. Quitting the religion is 'quitting Plan A'.'Quitting Plan A' is not plan B - it's having no plan at all. They put their life (probably decades) into a highly ideological field. Leaving that is not easy, I suppose. It's more than giving up convenience
- WHA8m 4y ago> There are websites out there dedicated to religious clergy I'd be interested in reading that. Have a link? Although it might be difficult to prove if those sites are legit...
