even if you can't get back to the old new normal, you'll eventually get used to the new new normal. I live with a progressive disability and that's what I've found - you grieve your losses, adapt, get back in the (altered) groove and the cycle repeats. sometimes things come back, sometimes not. so it was when I couldn't type for a while, so it is now with my wheelchair. it sucks but you can do it.
