A huge component of American and British inflation is endogenous (stimulus checks, loose monetary policy, etc…). Both the central bank and the government can and should do something about it. Core inflation in the UK is 6.2%, in the US is 6%, more than half the inflation rate. This is not the same in countries more affected by the energy shock, such as the eurozone.
