Microsoft have to provide salary guidance for their roles in Washington state where they have their headquarters by law in January 2023, and they're only doing it on the last possible day they can because they're being forced to. On the non-compete clauses - they're not valid and are now illegal in an increasing number of states so Microsoft 'ditching' them is also because their hand is being forced. This article is just spin to make Microsoft look proactive when really they're only complying with legislation.
