Computing in Crip Time
- alexdowad 4y agoWhen I saw the title, I first thought this article had something to do with the intersection of computational science and inner-city street gangs.

- kradeelav 4y agoHa, same but for the reason that "crip" is a semi-reclaimed insult for some with physical disabilities. Honestly, I'd read that article too.
- davidhay 4y agoSame, I imagined a situation where a doctor is explaining to a member of the Bloods that he is experiencing "Crip time".
- alangibson 4y agoSnoop Dogg did his PhD on computing primes in Crip time.
- mikewarot 4y agoA phrase you'll all learn to dread as you, or a loved one ages, is "New Normal". I've had a few of them, the most recent involves a virtual fishbowl that used to be my good (right) eye. In a month or two, I hope to get back to my old "new normal" of just dealing with Long Covid and/or?? just being stuck inside too long. There is a perceptual shift, much like those of new parents, who suddenly notice things that were previously invisible, that comes from these changes. I try to be attentive to those changes in others near and dear to me.
- sterlind 4y agoeven if you can't get back to the old new normal, you'll eventually get used to the new new normal. I live with a progressive disability and that's what I've found - you grieve your losses, adapt, get back in the (altered) groove and the cycle repeats. sometimes things come back, sometimes not. so it was when I couldn't type for a while, so it is now with my wheelchair. it sucks but you can do it.
