I came across this article earlier and its quite compelling although it is odd that there hasn't been more news in mainstream media outlets (although perhaps the usual international media news bureaus are based in areas under lockdown and/or have been closed). While I am no fan of China's government policies, I do hope that the market there doesn't tank and destroy the savings/livelihoods of all the millions of people that have been pulled out of poverty and into the middle class (not to mention of course, the contagion effect on global markets and the untold suffering that would cause). If there is a larger bank run in China, I will be curious to see if this exacerbates the current nearshoring trend of U.S. companies away from China.
