Calling out the speaker and making him apologize - Gutsy move, well done Making an official compliant to the organizers for story about a mildly offensive joke that was never actually made at said conference - Bordering on overreaction but maybe ok Writing a G+ post "...JavaOne Incident" publicly slamming said person repeatedly in spite of multiple apologies - Overreaction gone nuts (possibly hurting the original cause - leading to - "this woman can't take a harmless joke" in the minds of more than a few people) Ageism/sexism/*ism needs to be certainly discouraged but proportional response has its own merits.
