The comment the speaker made was in poor taste and it was inappropriate. Simple as that. The speaker should recognize that and simply say as much. Not a lot more needs to be said. There's no way to defend or explain the comment. And as for @DuncanIdaho who thinks this is vilifying all men. No, it's just calling out a recurring trend at tech conferences to do things which make women feel unwelcome. That's wrong and needs to stop.
