This headline is ridiculous! The wind and solar are part of Texas's power mix. This is just "grid works properly".
But, of course, in modern stupid media, we have to have the headline "Smart, clean democrat power is 'bailing out' stupid Republican power", which is obviously how this headline was meant to be read, even though it makes no sense.
- toomuchtodo 4y agoTexas politicians are notoriously anti renewables, going so far as to blatantly lie about them being the cause of last year’s early spring grid failure. Therefore Brandolini’s Law applies, and extra effort has to go into refuting these bad faith distortions by malicious actors. https://www.sacurrent.com/news/texas-gov-greg-abbott-lies-on-fox-news-about-cause-of-the-states-power-outages-25591086 https://www.sacurrent.com/news/texas-gov-greg-abbott-lies-on... https://twitter.com/ndrew_lawrence/status/1361866553998909442 https://twitter.com/ndrew_lawrence/status/136186655399890944... https://www.texastribune.org/2021/02/17/abbott-republicans-green-energy/ https://www.texastribune.org/2021/02/17/abbott-republicans-g... > we have to have the headline "Smart, clean democrat power is 'bailing out' stupid Republican power", which is obviously how this headline was meant to be read, even though it makes no sense. Makes perfect sense, because Republicans have made clean energy a political issue. It shouldn’t be! Clean energy is also cheap energy, but doesn’t have oil and gas money behind it, so, you know, out come the lies out of desperation. Brandolini's law, also known as the bullshit asymmetry principle, is an internet adage that emphasizes the effort of debunking misinformation, in comparison to the relative ease of creating it in the first place. It states that "The amount of energy needed to refute bullshit is an order of magnitude larger than is needed to produce it.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandolini%27s_law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandolini%27s_law
