Could steam-powered cars decrease the CO2 in the atmosphere?
- simonblack 4y agoUnlikely. Steam engines are not as efficient as internal combustion engines, and are also heavier. Being less efficient, they will use more fuel and produce more CO2 for the same output. Electric cars are 'better' due to economies of scale: It's cheaper and more efficient to produce bulk electricity from central power stations. But electric cars are not as wonderful as they seem, just that their CO2 production and their pollution are hidden away from view.
