Coinbase to layoff 1100 or 18% of employees
- kwertyoowiyop 4y agoIt’s such a cliche to react to these stories with “they had HOW MANY employees??” But here I am.
- xhkkffbf 4y agoThat's my feeling as well. They just keep a table full of who owns which currency. Yeah, it takes a few more people to build in some redundancy, but that's a big number of employees.
- woah 4y agoFacebook just has a MySQL blog
- hinkley 4y ago6100 employees?? How is that even possible?
- moistly 4y agoPossibly by paying them in cryptocurrency?
- _8j50 4y agoWhy is that surprising? They're one of the biggest online financial institutions. Just complying with KYC laws given their number of customers takes a lot of human resources.
- kwertyoowiyop 4y agoIt would be fascinating to know how many people they had assigned to each area & project. Edit: I thought this item might have the answer, but it’s just asking the question: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31742553 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31742553
