I think the authors questions are not relavent at all. If you all you care about is the technology you use, fine. But there is a reason for all this work. You are building a product. The questions should be related to building products. - What is the size if your team? how much resource do you have? - Fast, Cheap or Good? (which two?) - Is it an unknown problem space? need to learn and iterate fast? - Market you sell to, high growth? medium? - Do you worry about scaling issues (eg. twitter) or more product issues - Do you want to use fancy tech or do you just want to build something? Probably more questions like that would help answer what you should use.
