Pornography and sex work generally is an issue that doesn’t align neatly on the left and right political axis. It’s an area where the libertarian left and libertarian right largely agree, and the authoritarian left and authoritarian right largely agree. Trying to fit it into a left/right worldview is completely incoherent.
- torpid 4y agoThere is no "libertarian left" and "libertarian right". Libertarians decided to create a political compass website as a recruiting tool and now think their axes model represents reality. That's what's incoherent. Ironically these categorical definitions which you have accepted have as much validity as a website quiz saying how much of a Hufflepuff or Gryffindor one is.
- _abox 4y agoVery good point, now that I think of it. I'm very left but also anti-authoritarian (and as such I would never fit in a communist state). This viewpoint can be extrapolated to other issues as well. Very interesting food for thought, thanks for making it.
