I was in Thailand for a couple weeks in November 2000. Lots of tourists then. It does feel different to quit your job and travel for several months. I did that in 2007. Got a big backpack, Nikon D70, first iPhone, Mac Book Pro and started my journey in Guatemala. Spent 3 months learning Spanish in Antigua. Then I spent 6 more months making my way from hostel to hostel, in shared rooms, down to Buenos Aires. Spend as long as you want in one place then move on. Probably better to do when you’re younger but it’s a nice chapter to add to your life at any age.
