If you want a fourth one, from another country here it is (Italy):
In a small village nearby, reknown to the locals for having (for some reasons) terrible 2G/3G coverage, a few years ago the gas company replaced meters with "smart" ones.
The technology was 2G/3G, the units had a SIM (or e-SIM) and - in theory - it would "ping" very rarely the gas company to send the info about consumption, no fancy dashboard, but of course a small lcd display to allow the customer to read the data (in m3).
All of this powered by a built in (and not-removable) battery that was intended to last many years (I believe 10-15, but cannot say for sure).
Anyway, again for some reasons, the devices either scanned the (as said very problematic) cellular network too often because it couldn't "hook" to it or for whatever other reason batteries died within 2 years or less.
The battery wasn't replaceable, and the whole electronic module was not available so they changed again all the meters with a new model.
The ones for electicity (as well without any fancy feature) on the other hand usually work flawlessly (they are powered by the mains and send data though the line itself).
Since a few years they are starting to get installed (in condo's or similar centrally heated buildings, according to some EU directive) new "smart valves" and "caloric counters" on radiators (the idea is that a guy with a sort of radio modem passes and reads in one go all the data of a whole building) and the issues are coming out, dead batteries (replaceable but only with a special tool, so a technician needs to come to your house to replace them), non-working units that need to be entirely replaced, malfunctioning units, a whole mess.
