- macintux 4y agoMaddening that despite you pointing out as the very first comment that the active discussion was elsewhere, people are having exactly the same discussions here.
- DonHopkins 4y agoAnd they're both speculative discussions, without exception.
- breakingcups 4y agoKinda fitting
- classichasclass 4y agoWell played.
- freedomben 4y agoI agree it's frustrating, but the silver lining at least is that on big things like the conversation balloons to the point it's hard or impossible to follow. This breaks it up a bit. Although, I think it encourages more commentary so the net result might be a lot more size/scope than a single thread would be, which is even less digestable than a single giant. So maybe my optimism is silly in this case.
- dang 4y agoWhen the URLs and article texts are completely different yet the story is substantially the same, duplicate detection is a hard problem. We rely on a combination of user input and moderator action to take care of these. I've merged the threads now, but in the future, if you want to contribute to de-maddening the situation faster, you (or anyone!) could email us a heads-up at hn@ycombinator.com. That's the fastest way to let us know something, as well as the only one with any guarantee of receipt.
- macintux 4y agoFair enough. I flagged the duplicate in hopes that would suffice.
- dang 4y agoComments moved thither. Thanks!
