I would love to get into woodworking. Unfortunately there are no classes available outside of working hours in my native tongue in the country I live :) I have dreams of building benches and such.
- bergenty 4y agoJust do it. YouTube is more than enough.
- deanc 4y agoThere is also the issue of access to equipment. Usually people onboard these skills at workshops as some form of training or internship. You can do real damage not knowing how to use those machines.
- exDM69 4y agoYou can do a lot of woodworking without dangerous machines. I am terrified of table saws and router tables and do most of my work with only hand tools. I used to go to a weekly class where I had stationary machines at my disposal, together with a teacher, and it is certainly helpful in saving time when prepping stock. But it is in no way necessary for woodworking and if you are a hobbyist doing physically small projects (boxes, decorative items, instruments, etc) the amount of time saved isn't even that great. A saw and a chisel and some elbow grease will go a long way.
- neverartful 4y agoIndeed! I highly recommend the Youtube channel "Mr. Chickadee" to see some great examples of hand tools in action.
