Laplace, Z, and Fourier transforms are all useful in studying systems with feedback. I'm an electrical engineer, and am not sure that I have used a Laplace transform since university, but I sure have thought about feedback and the stability of systems. If nothing else, one could see learning about Laplace transforms as kinda like a history (liberal arts) course to give you context for later systems and signals courses.
