Gentle reminder to read the article
- waffletower 4y agoGentle reminder to the author that naming is hard.
- brundolf 4y agoI think it was an intentional riff on/reframing of the phrase. They lay out the intended meaning very plainly at the top
- PaulDavisThe1st 4y agoI read the whole article. The final two sentences of the opening paragraph: > As browsers become more capable, this is encompassing a large fraction of software standards. In a certain sense, (nearly) all software is now web software. This is just bullshit, that can only be written by someone too immersed in web-centric development to understand the full scope of software development and design.
- brundolf 4y agoThey were being intentionally hyperbolic. Most of the domains you listed have at least been touched by one web technology or another, whether that be JavaScript, HTTP, video codecs, etc. Nobody's saying literally all software, but virtually every domain has been affected at least a little bit by a web-related standard or technology. Chill out.
