IMO, porn addiction is a culture-bound syndrome that only occurs among the devoutly religious. My wife and I sometimes watch porn or read smut together; it allows us to imagine that we're watching other couples, being watched, or participating in group sex without actually involving other people. We like the fantasy, but we're not comfortable making it a reality. Watching porn made by feminists like Erika Lust or sharing lewd stories posted on Literotica has improved our sex life together. But we're not Christians. It's mainly Christians pushing the "porn is bad" narrative, and they have nothing but pseudoscience to back their claims.
