I do "system" app updates (Carrier Services, Android System WebView, Play Services, etc) through the Play Store's update mechanism (which is still available even though I'm not signed in to a Google account). I do "user" app installs (Schwab, Amex, Fastmail, Element, etc) from Aurora and F-Droid.
