This is not a new concept. You don’t see herd immunity in endemic diseases. If over time diseases can become endemic, obviously there are paths from breakout pandemic spread that lead to persistent endemic infection states. I really expected better from the NIH, and the pandemic had been an eye opener for me as to how influenced by political winds they truly are.
