Ridiculous, but: "Correction: An earlier version of this story erroneously stated that the decision by the Missouri Court of Appeals meant insurance company GEICO must pay the judgment claim. The insurance company is still contesting the decision in federal court, arguing that the claim is not covered under the policy."
So, this decision wasn't even about whether or not auto insurance should cover catching an STD while having sex in a car. It is about some, to this non-lawyer, fairly arcane aspects of arbitration and right to appeal and arbitration result, not the substance of whether or not auto insurance covers this kind of thing.
- LarsAlereon 4y agoYeah, this seems like an obviously dumb arbitration decision, but I'm pretty sure GEICO are the ones that chose to have this decided through mandatory binding arbitration rather than in front of a judge who might have made a better decision.
- DoughnutHole 4y agoRegardless of the merits of the original judgement, it's delicious see an insurance company bit in the ass by the binding arbitration system they push their customers into.
