They're all millionaires, because they did an internship, were hired onto a full time role, and then rented an apartment that is rent controlled that was below their means and saved aggressively. Unfortunarely, absent the same level of income I cannot make those choices, even with perfect or near perfect information. Or they live with their family, who are loving and supportive, but also encourage them to go out a bit so their housemates have privacy, so they'd run into someone like me at Red Rock or whatever. I don't think folks understand that the bay has a lot of rental protections not present in other places.
