Like learning a new programming language. Especially where are no immediate benefits and use. Or learning a new (human) language. I do not live in that country or have immediate needs. Or losing weight. My shape is far from bad, but it not ideal as well. In some shirts I appear okay, in others fat. Removes my motivation. Or learning something new, say, a new technology thay would give me new insights and/or look good on my resume, but for which I do not have any immediate use.
