Having gone to the currency printing industry events the environmental impact of polyethylene currencies appears to be lower and the plastic currencies appear to last longer.
- MengerSponge 4y agoInteresting. I'm kind of skeptical of claims made at industry events, though. Did they also talk about the recyclability of their plastics?
- paulgerhardt 4y agoNot as much, but the most common modern currency substrate is PET which is probably the most recyclable plastic. There are a lot of 'wtf' moments when one gets a glimpse behind the veil of an otherwise super secretive industry but this part at least is actually surprisingly mundane.
