Yes, but a lot of utilities give that functionality
>> virtualisation is an afterthought
That's false, maybe you refer to containerization? Apple provides APIs to virtualize a system in 10 lines of code
>> there's still no Windows story for the M1/M2
That's up to MS
>> the M1/M2 has terrible monitor support
Absolutely false. It's just that the base models are differentiated this way
>>> the UI padding is still too high
Yes but where do you find small puddings? It is a global design fad and even Linux distros adhered to this fashion
>> and there's no coherent gaming story
Macs are not marketed to gamers
- Mindwipe 4y ago> Yes, but a lot of utilities give that functionality This does not excuse core OS functionality being left to rot. > That's false, maybe you refer to containerization? Apple provides APIs to virtualize a system in 10 lines of code And not well. > That's up to MS Given the software story for the Mac is imploding, it is Apple's problem too. Apple could introduce a Proton-esque translation layer if they wanted to and make Macs significantly more useful machine at a stroke. > Absolutely false. It's just that the base models are differentiated this way This is unambiguously true - the M2 still cannot use multiple monitors correctly. > Yes but where do you find small puddings? It is a global design fad and even Linux distros adhered to this fashion Apple own their UI, Linux distro designers are not holding them at gunpoint. > Macs are not marketed to gamers They literally spent ten minutes of the keynote trying to market Macs to gamers.
