Deal on common charger: reducing hassle for consumers and curbing e-waste
- konschubert 4y agoI don’t like it. What percentage of global e-waste are chargers? Is this what we should spend our time and focus on? What if in 10 years there is a better charging standard but it can’t be deployed because the EU locked in USB-C?
- Zababa 4y agoI like it a lot. Currently I can charge my work laptop, my personal laptop, my phone and my earbuds with an USB-C charger. If USB-C was standarized I could also charge my e-reader (micro usb) and my headphones (micro usb). That's going from 4/6 devices charged by one charger to 6/6, or going from two chargers that I have to carry around to one. Nothing life changing but it sure improves my quality of life. It also means I won't have to pay for a charger for new devices, which will possibly compensate the higher cost of USB-C.
