I am a bit disappointed that discussions of audio based social media is basically limited to Clubhouse. Personally I really enjoyed using Dialup. I joined in ~2019 and it was a great place to have real conversations with total strangers. During the quarantines it was one of the best windows I had into the broader world. Having an intimate conversation with a total stranger is a totally novel form of human interaction and I personally had a lot of good experiences with the service, even though it received none of the massive VC backed hype and media accolades. Personally I think that the problem with clubhouse and its competitor clones is more about how they structured conversations and less about social audio as a medium.
