New York state passes first electronics right-to-repair bill
- nobody9999 4y ago'bout effin' time, if you ask me. That's all, but I've been wanting to use more 'apostrophes', so I'll do that here 'n' now in the thread's first comment.
- cato_the_elder 4y agoI think this is very much due to the lobbying work carried by Louis Rossmann (the MacBook repairs guy) [1], and I feel that the guy deserved some kind of recognition in the article. [1]: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1_3FXnqeUpQ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1_3FXnqeUpQ
- jfim 4y ago> Notably, the bill doesn't pertain to medical devices, home appliances... It's unfortunate that it doesn't apply to appliances. Chucking a phone after a few years isn't good, but a whole washing machine or dishwasher is probably worse.
