- kurupt213 4y agoHardwood forests are common here in the north east. I had no idea it was this easy to home farm shiitakes. With all the compressed sawdust mushrooms hitting the grocery stores, looks like a niche producer willing to use different wood sources (white oak, black walnut, sugar maple, etc.) could make a killing in a more refined market, like NYC restaurant supplier
- jelliclesfarm 4y agoYou can get oak logs with shittake plugs. Going rate is $30-35 for a 18-20 inch log.
