Far be it for me to defend Ford's quality, but an airbag recall certainly isn't comparable to this. It was Takata's fault and affected a long list of OEMs, including Tesla. The real problem here is Tesla refusing to fix the product they delivered defective and which apparently won't even pass inspection in Germany. Issues happen, and most companies fix them rather than deal with the bad press.
