- phillipseamore 4y agoThe only installation in the south-east is a long-range radar station, one of four in Iceland used for monitoring flights over the North-Atlantic. It's partly funded by NATO (and they use data from it), but it's owned and run by the Icelandic Coast Guard. You can walk up and knock on the door and they'd probably ask you in for coffee.
