- codefreeordie 4y agoThis is such a misleading headline. New York has instituted a moratorium on issuing permits for new powerplants (or powerplant reactivations) for the purpose of mining crypto. If you want to buy power off the grid to run your mining rig, you can. If you already got a permit to restart a coal-fired power station, you can keep going. You just can't get a new permit to bring power online for the purpose of mining.
