What could I do about it?
I don't like my parents, and they don't like me. To me loneliness has always been a lack of peers, and my family aren't people I crave peer kinship from. What policy change could have prevented me from getting into this scenario?
- nine_zeros 4y agoNothing. Society has enough abundance that no one really needs codepence on people they don't like. Just find someone outside your you can relate to.
- rini17 4y agoApparently human psychology does need some dependence. Even with somewhat unlikable people it is better than complete isolation.
- nine_zeros 4y agoYou can be dependent on a person of your choosing. You don't need to be dependent on the default parents/family in the modern era. The real problem today is making friends - which is incredibly hard in America - with it's vast distances.
- rini17 4y agoEven in Europe the biggest problem isn't distance but that you should be the other person's choosing, too. And I think people became too picky. Maybe it isn't the root cause, just my observation.
- shreyshnaccount 4y agoEpicureanism?
- yucky 4y ago>What could I do about it? Get married and start your own family?
- toomuchtodo 4y agoHave a healthy relationship with your parents if you can. Find a partner who is a emotionally stable and well adjusted and you can maintain a relationship with throughout life. Be an involved, invested parent if you choose to have children. Find a therapist if you have your own issues to work on. Everything else is outside of your control.
