Not surprised all these stats are a complete load of crap. The biggest crime is cable companies and streaming services claiming 4k when it is throttled at 30mb

- adgjlsfhk1 4y agoit is 4k. It just is using (lossy) compression (like every video since the 90s). streaming uncompressed video would be incredibly stupid.
- Justin_K 4y agoSo I can drop a 4K clip in Premiere and compress it to 1mbps.... Would you still call that 4K? Wouldn't you agree the difference between 4K compressed vs. uncompressed is astounding? Wouldn't you agree we're getting screwed with the promise of 4K when true resolution is somewhere around 1080?
- goosedragons 4y agoThe resolution of the video is 4K. The bitrate is typically not as high as a 4K Blu-ray so it doesn't look as good but it is 4K. All you need for it to be 4K and not be a lie is 4K resolution and they do that. It's not the BEST 4K you can get but it is 4K. All video is compressed. Streaming sites are just more compressed. The same is true of 1080p on streaming sites too. The bitrate is worse than what you'd get on a disc.
- adgjlsfhk1 4y agoIt would be really interesting to see quality comparisons of 4k vs 1080 at the same bitrate compared to lossless 8k to see which gives higher quality.
