Admittedly I know very little about the economy, but this seems like wishful thinking to me. Here's my layman's view. In 2008, the housing bubble crashed, and this one single asset category crashing was enough to pretty much break the entire world economy. Now, in 2022, things are WAY more out of whack economically. We've been printing for 2 years, the Fed's balance sheet is just about to shrink, and COVID seems to be coming back. China has been locking down and prices are skyrocketing. Gas is the highest it's ever been, and cars are far more expensive than before. The baby boomer generation is retiring and will start to take their money out of risky markets with them. Sales are starting to massively slow, of cars, houses, stocks, cryptos, everything. And this is really just getting started. The housing bubble popped in 2006/7 and took over a year to cause the economy to blow up. I find it nearly impossible to believe that this massive conflagration of negative events does not end with a giant financial explosion in a year.
