- leobg 4y agoWhy then would a Delaware Corp?
- solar-ice 4y agoIt won't. Good luck employing people in Germany as a US company too - you really want at least a German subsidiary for that.
- leobg 4y agoSure. These are two different things. Liability protection and, let’s call it social acceptance. OP article suggests a UG as your personal holding company, which then owns the shares in the actual outward facing entity. That UG, I think, could be replaced by an Ltd. it’s easier and cheaper to set up, and insulates you against personal liability just as well as a UG or even a GmbH would.
- SkyAndSand 4y agoCan't you work around this by using https://www.letsdeel.com/ https://www.letsdeel.com/ or https://remote.com/ https://remote.com/?
- solar-ice 4y agoIn theory, you can't employ someone in Germany for longer than 18 months via an employer of record. If you want to employ someone for longer than that, you must have a German legal presence. This is one of the ways that Germany ensures that employee rights are actually enforceable.
- SkyAndSand 4y agoOh wow, I actually didn't know that.
