Polish Border Guard reports daily and as of June 3rd 3.8 milion people crossed the border from Ukraine (since Feb 24th) but 1.77 million left (1.6 million were Ukrainians).. So there is cross-border traffic in both directions 1 million registered refugees from Ukraine not headline 3.5 million is probably a better estimator of the size of this refugee crisis.
